Cosmic Consciousness

One dark, winter night, when I was around age 6, I was walking home with my siblings and mother in the crunchy, white snow. We stopped and shone the torch up into the sky. My mum said “careful, the aliens will see you”.

My mother told us about seeing a UFO once when she was a young woman. She said there wasn’t much to tell, but I was fascinated and still continue to shine a torch up into dark skies thinking, “are you there?”.

The background to this story is that my mother was aged 17-18 and at that time, lived at home and worked for the Ministry of Defense in London in a clerical role. It was dark and she was walking home with her boyfriend who she later married (my father), he was 19 at the time. They both saw a light in the sky as they crossed a road near to the house. The sighting took place on the outskirts of Haywards Heath, which is a town in the South of England, UK.

Here’s the text message chat from early 2024 with my 85 year-old mother when I asked her about it again.

Me: I remember you told us you saw a UFO when you were young?

Mum: Yes I was about 18, walking home late with your dad, it was red. Nobody else seemed to have seen it. I worked for the MoD  and told people the next day, they phoned around but nobody knew anything.

I can still see it!!!

Me: That is so cool!!

One of the things people report is that when you “see” the object, it’s like it sees you, and moves towards you – often that’s when people feel frightened.

Mum: It didn’t look solid it seemed to shimmer, a bit like jelly, but I wasn’t frightened. Your dad didn’t want to walk back home so he stayed over. Mum (my grand-mother) was disappointed that she didn’t see it.

Me: There’s a lot of research and analysis now that show specific patterns. The shimmering, jelly effect is often reported as it’s like the object is a type of plasma or even distorting the space around it.

Mum: That’s so interesting, I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t find out more.

Me: All information relating to unusual things like that is collected by defense agencies. In 2020 a film from 2004 military being able to capture objects on film was released – called USS Nimitz incident.

It was released by someone who recorded it on video camera on ship. The military acknowledged it was true when the NY Times ran the story in 2020.

So since then it’s like the whole thing is out the bag – and all the secret projects are being put on the internet and people are talking about how the defense handle all the stuff they can’t explain.

Mum: I’ll look online, thank you.

It would have been about 1955/56, so when I spoke about it of course no one would have acknowledged it, I couldn’t understand it. All makes sense now.

Me: Other cultures – who aren’t military cultures – have absorbed all the things into cohesive understanding and  have ways of talking about it.

But since the military aircraft, space, radar etc started behaving in a way where these things are a threat or if understood can be harnessed, engineered and weaponised it’s been taken into the military industrialisaton.

Mum: It’s control!

Mum: Well it seemed very close, it was at the road junction but was behind a tree, bare tree just branches and like it was hovering behind it, so close and smaller than the moon hard to say now
